Associate Director, USDA-NIFA/NSF AI Institute for Next Generation Food Systems (AIFS), University of California, Davis
Steve is the program manager of AIFS, which is a five-year, $20 million USDA-NIFA funded institute based at UC Davis. He coordinates budgets and funding of 16 research projects by 40 staff and 40 graduate students at UCD and five other participating organizations (UC Berkeley, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Cornell University, UC-ANR, and USDA ARS WHNRC). He also manages UCD-based AIFS staff who coordinate outreach, public engagement, communications, and business development. Prior to this role, Steve developed or managed approximately 250 software projects, many of which involved AI.
