Aliyah Moreno is the Yolo Grown Program Coordinator for Yolo Food Bank. Aftering graduating from UC Berkeley in 2018 with a Bachelors of Science in Society and Environment and a minor in Food Systems, Aliyah decided to move back home to Yolo County to take on the role of "ending hunger and malnutrition" in her community. For the past three years, Aliyah has been working with local food system partners such as farms and seed companies to procure fresh fruits and vegetables for those who find themselves food insecure. Through these established partnerships, Aliyah has been working to utilize the fertile soil that surrounds Yolo County, maximize fresh produce donations that would then be left in the fields, and direct those crops to the hands of those who lack resources. Aliyah strives to increase the access and consumption of fruits and vegetables to the most vulnerable residents, while simultaneously continuing to educate those who have the power to share the abundance of local and fresh produce in the county.
